Zeke's Guide: finding what you need in the UNH Library
Who's Zeke,
or why is there no 'a' in Dimond?
Ezekiel Webster Dimond (1836-1876), appointed in 1868 as the first professor of the New Hampshire College of Agriculture and the Mechanic Arts (which was to become the University of New Hampshire), was a remarkable man. Not only was he a teacher, he was a business manager, architect, supervisor of construction, farm manager, and lobbyist in the legislature.
His vision for the college was unlimited, and his enormous energy and executive ability contributed more than any other factor to the success of this school.
In 1967, the University Trustees named the library in his honor.Again, we recognize his contributions to this institution by creating the Library Guide in his name. For more on the life of Ezekiel Dimond, see the "Memorial Sketch" on the UNH Special Collections & Archives page and the Nov. 15, 2006 article in the Campus Journal.
