Zeke's Guide: finding what you need in the UNH Library

How do I find books at the UNH Library?

The first resource is the UNH Library Catalog which is available through the
Library Homepage or the Reference Department Homepage.

The catalog can also be used to find videos, music, CDs, maps etc.

The catalog may be searched by:

author (either individual's name, for example: Dickens, Charles
or
corporate name, for example: American Society of Landscape Architects)
book or journal title
author/title
subject
keyword
call number

How are books organized?

They are arranged by subject (using Library of Congress Classification)
and are shelved in
:

Dimond Library (humanities, social sciences, earth sciences, business)
Biological Sciences Library in Kendall Hall (BioSci)
Chemistry Library in Parsons Hall (Chem)
Engineering, Mathematics & Computer Science Library in Kingsbury Hall (Engr/Math)
Physics Library in Nesmith Hall (Phys)

The campus map gives the locations of the branches.

What does the catalog tell me?

If we own a book, it will tell you:

location-Dimond Library, one of the branch libraries, or UNH-Manchester

call number-to find the book on the shelf

status-if it's on the shelf, on loan, or other circumstances
(if you cannot find a book which is indicated as 'Available' check the Waiting Shelves and/or speak to the staff at the Loan Desk or the appropriate branch)
